Who we are - Associazione i Germogli
The “I Germogli” association was born on the island of Linosa, a small island situated in the channel of Sicily. Together with Lampedusa and Lampione it forms part of the Pelagie Island archipelago.
Situated halfway between Africa and Sicily the islands of Lampedusa and Linosa are not only tourist destinations for many of us, but also for those who are more unlucky than us and in search of a better future, and whose dreams and destination are not always reached.
The association was born from different experiences and motivations.
Since the 1980s, some of us have gained experience in different African countries in the field of health and social work. We are the ones who started the association, after 35 years of work in those places, of which many were spent in Uganda.
Others have come on board after adopting the intentions of the association to reduce the gap that separates us from those disadvantaged countries.
